Giving in Times of Hardship
When someone you care about is facing hardship, it’s natural to want to do something to help them.
Whether the crisis is a natural disaster or highly personal, we want to lessen their grief, make the hard time a little easier, show them compassion, let them know they’re not alone. We can lift them up or be leaned upon - whatever they need.
But sometimes, it’s hard to know how to do that. If someone’s lost their home, what good is a casserole? If their partner’s ill, are flowers going to help them pay hospital bills? As a friend, relative, or just a stranger, what can we do to ease the burden they’re carrying?
Today we’re learning about the tragedy Hurricane Matthew has left in its wake in Haiti while people in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina are waiting to see the toll the storm takes on their own lives.
